I’d file this under “accidentally crossing paths with interesting people”, but then nothing really happens by accident, does it? Earlier this year, I was capping off part two of an interview with Antsy McClain of the Trailer Park Troubadours outside of KPIG in Freedom, CA. Antsy and Edgar Cruz were doing a short California run they called their “You Say Flamingo – I Saw Flamenco” tour. I finished chatting with Antsy, and since Edgar was waiting in the van, we figured I might was well get a two-fer out it and record a chat with Edgar, too.
So we did. And I was treated to a note-for-note take on Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”, followed by an Edgar Cruz original, along with a very interesting conversation on how this particular artist makes a living…and does it by staying fairly close to home.
