I started this web site (and this blog) a little over a year ago. At the time, “Spotted Mule and Other Tales” was about one third of the way towards being a CD. Looking back, this site evolved into a blog-filled diary centered around the notion of “How do you make a CD and then what do you do with it?”, along with some of the hoops I jumped through in the process. Here are some highlights:

  • First, you finally get over the notion that having your own web site is just incredibly pretentious and that you do have a real use for one: Me Dot Com

  • You drive to Castro Valley and bring home a carload of CDs: One Thousand CDs

Note: This one is worth it just for your wife’s reaction: “One thousand CDs?! What the heck were you thinking?!” (She’s much better with the whole idea when you explain that it’s cheaper this way.)

  • You have a CD-release party at your favorite local winery: Some Party

  • Finally, you make a fortune selling all your CDs and retire early. Okay, maybe you don’t retire early. But you keep promoting and playing, sell a few CDs now and then, write a few new songs, and realize that writing is now the easy part.

Then you sit back and think of your next blog to write.
