It’s a funny world, this music business. In the age of streaming and all the music in the world literally at your fingertips, CDs simply don’t sell like they used to. (Not a complaint, honestly. Just an observation.) But if you write songs, you want to record them. My last full CD was “Hey Karma” in 2017. I’ve been just releasing an occasional digital single (Spotify, etc.) for the past few years. But with a few new songs, it felt right starting up a new EP, at least.
Then I thought, “Why not drop in the recent singles, maybe a live track or two, and maybe just ONE more newly recorded track. And then it magically becomes a full CD. So we did…er, we are. And yesterday, we headed up to Kyle Poppen’s house and added Jamie Coffis to two of the songs. Kyle’s going to shoot the new tracks up to our pal and producer, Henry Chadwick. Henry recently relocated to Portland, and he’s finishing up the record remotely. Here are snippets from the title track and “Cheers to the Road”:
“Welcome Back (A Collection)” is an intentionally cookie-cutter collection of tunes that are pre- and post-2020, along with some never-before-recorded songs, including three with a local angle. Looking at an early 2023 release. Stay tuned!
