About the band. Michael Gaither & His New Best Friends backs Michael’s award-winning, Americana originals and mixes in well-known tunes from artists who’ve influenced he and his bandmates (Tom Petty, Neil Young, The Band, and The Cars.)
The band is fronted by Michael on vocals, guitar, and banjo and features Eliza James on harmony vocals and Greg Abelar on bass, and Bill Walker on guitar. Available as a duo, trio, or full band, depending on the venue and requirements.
About Michael. Michael Gaither has been a performing songwriter for over 15 years. With five CDs of original material under his belt, and lots of time onstage as a storyteller introducing his songs, he’s backed by a rotating band of like-minded characters.
A California native, Michael takes the “write what you know” idea to heart, crafting songs that showcase both the nostalgia of small-town life and the foibles of modern technology, always with plenty of humor in the mix. He turned to songwriting after a background in journalism and a narrow brush with standup comedy. Offstage, he’s a DJ on the legendary Americana station, KPIG.
