This is another example of a simple little story that took a long time to properly represent on video. This is likely because I’m stubborn, I new exactly how I wanted to present “Roselle’s” 911 rescue tale, and I wouldn’t be happy until I had the right content to wrap around the song.
If you don’t know her story, Roselle was a guide dog. On September 11, 2001, she and her owner, Michael Hingson, were in the North Tower of the World Trade Center. After everything happened that day, Mr. Hingson and Roselle were able to help evacuate their floor, escorting everyone out the door and to the stairs. This new video is a live version of my song “Roselle,” along with photos of her, Mr. Hingson, and some of the kudos she deservedly received:

I’d posted a couple of live versions of the song in years past, but I realized it really needed to show Roselle and Michael Hingson to properly make the point. Mr. Hingson gave me his okay to use photos, and Guide Dogs (Roselle was trained at the San Rafael campus) gave me lots of pictures to choose from. Earlier this year, I played The Monkey House, a very intimate venue up in Berkeley. With the footage from that show, and the approved photos, I had what I needed.
Mr. Hingson gave the video some nice kudos in a recent blog on his site. You can learn more about he and Roselle in the book “Thunder Dog”. The CD version of the “Roselle” song is on my “Dogspeed” CD.
