The other night at Jansen Music, I mentioned that between writing and playing music, putting out a regular podcast, maintaining the web site, working a day job, and making sure there’s enough time for the non-music side of life, I figured I need ONE more thing to do. So here it is: Beginning in May, I’m hosting a house concert-like series at the Corralitos Cultural Center. We’ve dubbed each of these “An Evening of Songs and Stories”, since we’ll feature artists who’ve been gracious enough to let me chat with them for the “Songs and Stories” podcast. There’ll be one concert a month from May through August. I’ll play in a couple of them and just host the other two. This series runs as a benefit to both the cultural center and the artists who perform at it.
We’re kicking things off Sunday May 2nd with two of my favorite local people: Award-winning songwriters Alisa Fineman and Kimball Hurd. They were on the “Songs and Stories” podcast way back in episodes #35 and #36. Alisa and Kimball bring gorgeous harmonies, great songwriting, and a plethora of instruments. Plus, they’re just charming as heck onstage.

Doors open at 5:00 pm. Show starts at 6:00 pm. Feel free to come early, meet the artists and visit the cultural center (it’s also a working art gallery), or head down the street to the Corralitos Meat Market and pick up a late lunch/early dinner before the show. Check out the attached flyer (click the thumbnail pic) for more details and directions, or just call (831) 254-2669 to reserve your seats.
The rest of the series looks like this:
- Sat June 19th – Storyteller Erica Lann-Clark and The Michael Gaither Band (that’s us)
- Sun July 25th – In-the round: Nancy Cassidy, Michael Gaither (yeah, me again), and Chuck McCabe
- Fri Aug 27th – Songwriter Cindy Kalmenson
Keep an eye on my Shows page for complete details on these shows (as well as links to all the artist.)
