I spent last weekend playing and hosting the music at the 4th Annual Harvest’s End party at Roudon-Smith Winery. This started four years ago when winery owner Annette Hunt told me, “If you and a couple of other songwriters are free that weekend, I’ll make up an event.” Now it’s a two-day festival with wine tasting, local artisans, great food, and a full weekend of music. Besides our band playing both days, it’s also a nice excuse to both show off some of my friends and give them a place to play, as well. This time we shared the weekend with folks like Ginny Mitchell, Rick Di Dia and Aireene Espiritu, and David Anderson and Johnny Eddy. Great music, great people, and perfect weather.

And since “Fall Back” – and the sun setting at 4:45 pm – is looming just a week away, we might as well fit in just ONE MORE festival: This Sunday, November 2nd, is the Second Annual “November-fest” at Pacific Crest Apiaries, a local honey farm up the road from us in Watsonville. We play from 11:00 – 1:00, so get there early. (The Old Spice Boys follow us from 2:00 – 5:00). Admission is free.

Last year, owner Dana Mumm combined music and wine tasting with her honey and beeswax candles. This year she’s added Chocolatier Robert Shields and beer from Santa Cruz Aleworks. Dana’s husband Ed has also built a horseshoe pit just for this year’s event (“so the guys have something to do while their wives shop.”)

Pacific Crest Apiaries is located at 875 Calabasas Road, Watsonville, CA.
