Every gig is fun. Sometimes, though, there’s just an extra layer of “WOW HOW COOL IS THIS?” that makes them so much extra special. Case in point: A few years ago, I was hired to play for a marriage proposal up in Davenport. Last week, another one came my way.
Even better, this was on Valentine’s Day. “Mike” (cool name and easy to remember) found my on my Gigsalad profile (take a look…I’m for hire) and saw that I worked up a proposal event in the past. So we talked, worked up a scenario, and all met up at Marshall Field up off Empire Grade in Santa Cruz.
My wife and our dog Meadow were part of the scenario:
- “Hi, what’s your dog’s name? What are you doing out here?”
- “Meadow. We’re just taking photos of me, my guitar, and our German Shepherd. Hey, wanna hear a song I’ve been working on?”
So cool. I felt like we were spies speaking in code. And my wife made them a cool memento to document the occasion.
Mike’s new fiancee “yes,” BTW.
