I’ve had such a blast being a DJ on KPIG the past three+ years, that I sometimes forget how much fun it is being on the other side as an interviewee. (I take neither for granted.)
Recent at “the pig,”, we’ve slowly started returning to live music on the long-running Sunday morning show, “Please Stand By”. To help kick things off, I had the pleasure of being the first guest with host “Sleepy” John Sandige last weekend. I played a few new tunes that we’re taking into the studio later this month: “Welcome Back (to the Land of the Living)”, “Cheapskate Hill” (a sequel to “Starlite Drive-In Saturday Night,” and “Cheers to the Road”. Listen in below.
And a couple of months back, I did a phone with “Dangerous” Dan Orange on KZSC’s “Bushwhacker’s Breakfast Club”. Dan’s another local DJ who’s been super supportive of my music. I honestly can’t count how many times someone’s said, “I heard you on Dan’s show!”. In this interview, Dan interspersed our chat with the studio cuts of “We’re the Elders Now,” “See You On the Other Side,” and “Now It’s a Taqueria”. Here’s the interview:
Good times. Plus, when you’re the subject, you don’t have to watch the time, stop for commercials, or even run the board. You just sit, yack and play a few tunes. Gotta love local radio.
