Rain or shine, it’s always a good day to work at home. Standard attire consists of pajama bottoms, a tshirt, sneakers, and a KHUM hat to hide “morning hair”. It’s really quite a sight. Makes it particularly amusing when I come in from getting the mail and my wife sighs, “You went outside looking like THAT?!” and just shakes her head.
The best thing about working at home is a dog at your side. Makes a great foot warmer, too. Roma, our pup (going on 3 years old…big puppy) was raised to be a Guide Dog but was dropped. (She didn’t “fail”, my wife always stresses to everyone.)
Roma has a soft trachea and can’t wear a choke collar, so she couldn’t complete the Guide Dog training. And we got a cool dog out of the deal.
She’s found a purpose, though. When she was a “guide dog in training”, she could only have rock-hard plastic nylabones to chew on. She has tough teeth AND she’s a labrador. After she tore through an “indestructable” bone from West Paw Design, the folks there quickly replaced it and then asked us if we’d like to use Roma to test some of their new products.
Two Zogoflex, rubber-disc prototypes later, Roma’s now on their web page with her own profile. Could be worse. At least I’m not a cat person.
