Another worthy roadtrip for another fun interview. Think of this as a continuation of episode #177, which took place at a recent writing retreat in Northern Idaho. This time, on that same trip, we chat with Boise-based songwriter/engineer/producer (he has a lot of hats) Steve Fulton. As both a solo artist and under the guise of his band SFM (Steve Fulton Music), he’s toured heavily for the past two decades. In addition, he runs The Audio Lab, one of the state’s finest recording studios, along with The Visual Arts Collective, its accompanying venues.
Besides being just an amazing artist on his own, he especially caught my ear when he mentioned he’s engineered the last two records for Elien Jewell (as well as touring with her and her family). Like I always say, as much as I love writing and playing songs, the people you meet on this music path is the real benefit.
In this episode, we’ll hear a cut from his latest record, “Eponym,” a live take on a newer song, and we’ll learn what keeps Steve busy when he’s not writing/recording his own tunes. It’s a great listen. You can learn more about Steve on his web site. And you can buy his music at CD Baby and from iTunes.
