Click to hear “Songs and Stories” #24 (time = 48.9, size = 56.1 mb)
On Saturday 2/23, I’ll be at The Acoustic Barn in Newcastle, CA opening for Rick Di Dia and Aireene Espiritu. Rick and Aireene play a mix of original folk, blues, bluegrass, and “swampy jams”, backed up by Rick on lap-steel guitar and Airene on ukelele. Not the least bit coincidentally, Rick and Aireene are the guests on this episode of “Songs and Stories”.
Yesterday afternoon, we discussed the balancing act between the “art” and “business” sides of music (along with a day job), talked about the unique community aspect between listeners, players, and supporters of Americana/folk music, and traded stories about our own musical influences – Rick even started interviewing *me* at one point, which was also a lot of fun.
Contest Announcement: Want to win an autographed CD and DVD (recorded at the Freight and Salvage) from Rick and Aireene? If you’re not on my mailing list – and you’d like to be – sign up on my Contact page and mention “Songs and Stories #24”. I’ll randomly draw a name at the end of the month and notify the lucky winner.
