I guess I love critter songs so much (minor epiphany spoiler alert here) since they combine two things I’m quite fond of: critters and music. Add the chance to play with cool people (something else I always appreciate) and you get a virtual triple word score on the whole thing.

Last Sunday’s show at the Corralitos Cultural Center Music Series – yes, we’ve officially named it – was a shared in-the-round with Florida songwriters Laurie Jennings and Dana Keller In this clip below, they explain to us native Californians what a “gator shine” is. Literally, it’s going out in the Everglades in the dark with a flashlight and trying to locate large prehistoric reptiles that can eat you. Sounds like fun, don’t it?. Me, I’ll take my chances on bears and mountain lions here on the left coast. Great song, though, and I loved the chance to play with alongside these two:

The CD version of “Gator Shine” is available on Laurie and Dana’s CD As The Universe Unfolds.

I’ll be in hosting mode for the next couple of shows out in Corralitos. On Friday, November 18th, award-winning blues singer/songwriter Dana Hubbard plays the cultural center. And on Sunday, December 4th, we’re somehow going to fit all of Houston Jones onto that intimate little stage. For more info, see my Shows page. To reserve your seats in advance, shoot me an email.
