I always warn people, especially at the day job, “Never bring up dogs, music, or movies. I’ll go off on a tangent, and we’ll never come back.” That’s not always a bad thing. We’ve always had dogs. I’ve always loved music – even more-so when I started creating and performing own. And I’ve always been a movie geek, especially of the culty/twisted variety.
Years ago, I wrote for the Santa Cruz Sentinel. I recently came across one of my favorite articles when I was combing through the archives (i.e., searching for my spare guitar tuner) here in the office. I did this piece when I was reviewing the campy science fiction western “The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.”, also known as THE GREATEST TELEVISION SHOW EVER EVER EVER. I got to talk to one of my B-movie heroes, Bruce Campbell. He’s best known as the star (and co-producer) of “Evil Dead”, “Evil Dead 2” (the horror comedy remake) and “Army of Darkness” (the sequel).
I was so excited about the prospect of talking to Bruce and asking inside questions, I basically just transcribed our conversation in the article. It’s especially fun (and topical) to revisit this since Campbell is back in the spotlight with the new Starz TV series, “Ash vs The Evil Dead”. It just started airing. I’d love to throw money at my television screen and binge on the whole season right now.
